Rathburn Tool & Manufacturing continued its equipment expansion with the acquisition of a Miyano BNX-51MSY twin spindle single turret lathe, representing the continued expansion of available technology at Rathburn. The incredibly efficient BNX-51MSY lathe, from the same makers of the Miyano Citizen-Cincom Swiss machines, is a multi-tasking CNC lathe with a 12-station main turret, including 12 stations for live tooling.

“The Miyano combines the best features of many of our current technology into one machine,” says Engineering Manager Brian Cole. He adds, “It is similar to the Swiss with its ability to sync the subspindle to the turret, so that it can simultaneously contour on the front and back spindle, cutting down cycle time and increasing throughput with an incredibly high level of precision”.

The Miyano also has great flexibility with a bar feed interface, so it can be used either for bar fed or chucker work. Requiring only a single-load for chucker work and a parts catcher, the Miyano provides a great model for a cobot interface, providing further opportunities to enhance the value to our customers.
