Rathburn Tool & Manufacturing recently upgraded its cutting power by adding a new HYDMECH H-14A automatic dual post horizontal bandsaw to its HYDMECH equipment lineup. This purchase reinforces Rathburn’s drive to make in-house sawcutting operations for high-production work even more cost effective for customers.

Rathburn has relied on high-quality HYDMECH saws for decades to cut steel tubing, aluminum extrusions, bar ends, thin-wall aluminum tubing, plastics, and solid steel bar stock. “This new machine will make the processing of all sorts of materials—up to 14 inches in diameter—more efficient,” said Rathburn President Angie Holt. “Efficiency helps us and helps us provide even better value for our customers.” Tina Compton, Rathburn Shipping & Handling Coordinator and Saw Operator, added, “We’ve had tremendous success with our HYDMECH saws. This saw allows us to maintain our high-quality standards, and significantly increase our throughput.”

The HYDMECH H-14A helps reduce scrap and waste by utilizing an 8.8 horsepower drive motor and on-demand hydraulics to save energy and allow for remnants shorter than one inch long to be cut precisely. Variable vice pressure provides the light touch required for aluminum extrusions and thin-wall stock. The new saw also features a conveyor built by local shop Lockwood Welding so it can handle heavy 20-plus-foot-long steel bars and tubing.
