Rathburn Tool & Manufacturing recently added two Mitutoyo CRT-AV7106 coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to its Quality Lab. These investments represent an important expansion of Rathburn’s ability to efficiently measure and process high production volume and repeat batch production orders with the highest degree of confidence.

Purchasing two identical machines helps Rathburn’s Quality Engineers and other personnel to be more accurate in measuring while also building flexibility into the workflow. “We’ll be able to respond to any new customer parts or requirements quicker than ever,” says Rathburn Quality Manager, Wendy Bice. “The two Mitutoyo CMMs enable us to manage a higher volume of parts without sacrificing our ability to meet the highest quality standards for our clients,” she said.

Rathburn uses 3D models provided by customers or generated from Solidworks CAD software to develop CMM programs. The Mitutoyo MeasurLink software will provide company employees with statistical functions such as SCPA and GD&T analysis.

The Mitutoyo CRT-AV7106, like all the brand’s CMMs, features glass scales that promote extremely precise measurements. It also has an articulating head with a scanning head, both of which are especially useful to achieve the most precise reading of the geometry being measured. These CMMs are accurate to within three microns and allow for fully customizable report writing, which is saved electronically for historical reference in accordance with the document retention standards required for each customer. Adding these two new CMMs is just one more way Rathburn is serving customers and providing the best products possible for their needs.
