Finding a great Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system that’s a perfect fit with your company is never easy. So, when Rathburn Tool & Manufacturing outgrew the ERP system they had been using for years, they went on a hunt. One of the challenges was that there were hundreds of choices, each requiring time and people to evaluate properly — and time was something they just didn’t have. In their search, they discovered a different approach through the Purdue Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP).

Rathburn previously worked with Purdue MEP in the areas of cybersecurity and quality but they were unaware of Purdue MEP’s ERP consulting services. “We’ve had great success working with Purdue MEP across a variety of business areas,” said Rathburn President Angie Holt. “We continue to come back because their experience and knowledge have helped Rathburn perform at a higher level and serve our customers better.”

With grant funding from the Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation (OLDCC), Purdue MEP helped Rathburn review current processes and execute a vision that’s enabled the company to see a long-term reduction of more than 35% in our annual costs. Management and administrative costs have also been cut while productivity has improved across the company.

Holt continued, “Partnering with Purdue MEP has been really successful for us. I’m excited about the ways they’ve helped us not only identify current challenges and overcome them, but they’ve helped us plan for the future and make sure we’re ready for what’s next.”
